Dutch driver Max Verstappen, the Formula 1 World Championship runner-up, will start from pole position at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix after setting the fastest time in qualifying. He beat the championship leader, British driver Lando Norris (McLaren). In the championship standings, Norris leads Verstappen (Red Bull), a four-time world champion, by 12 points and his McLaren teammate, Australian Oscar Piastri, who finished third in qualifying, by 16 points. These three are the last contenders for the 2025 World Championship title, which will be decided on Sunday. Norris will win the title if he finishes in the top three.
